15th International Greenhouse Gases Conference on "Navigating Towards Impactful NDCs 3.0: Scientific Expertise and Institutional Arrangement" [Seoul, Republic of Korea]
Paving the Path to Ambitious Climate Goals at the 15th International Greenhouse Gases Conference
The 15th International Greenhouse Gas Conference (IGC) was held on September 4th, 2024, in Seoul, Republic of Korea, centering around the topic of “Navigating Towards Impactful NDCs 3.0: Scientific Expertise and Institutional Arrangement”.
Hosted annually by the Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Research Center of Korea (GIR), the IGC provides a global platform for exchange on optimizing decision-making processes for more ambitious Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and advancing the Paris Agreement's goals. In early 2025, Parties are requested to submit the next round of NDCs (NDCs 3.0). To support pathways towards NDCs 3.0., the IGC facilitated peer-to-peer learning in discussions on technical groundwork, projection models, stakeholder consultations, key emission reduction strategies, political contexts shaping countries’ new climate commitments and final decision-making.
The Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement (PATPA) lent support, with expert Olia Glade from the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHG-MI) sharing insights on energy and emissions management and Oscar Zarzo extending his congratulations and underscoring the importance of transparency in enhancing climate ambitions through a video address.
