Annual Partnership Retreat 2025
The Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement (PATPA) hosted the 12th Annual Partnership Retreat (APR) from August 28 to September 2, 2025, in Bangkok, Thailand. PATPA is a joint initiative launched in 2010 by Germany, South Africa, and the Republic of Korea, and is funded by Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI).
The Annual Partnership Retreat offered a space for open and constructive exchange between nearly 40 developed and developing countries on transparency-related topics and their linkages to other processes under the Paris Agreement. Discussions focussed on national experiences in preparing and submitting their first Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs), technical challenges and practical solutions in applying the Modalities, Procedures and Guidelines (MPGs), and initial reflections on potential areas for the MPG review.
The event welcomed BTR coordinators and transparency negotiators that have or are about to submitted their first BTRs. It also included representatives from the youth, key UNFCCC negotiation groups, international organizations, and think tanks.
The 12th edition of the APR enabled fruitful discussions and interactive formats in an inspiring atmosphere.
