BTRs for Youth: A Webinar on Transparency and the Biennial Transparency Reports (BTR)
With many BTRs having been submitted at the end of 2024, the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) established under the Paris Agreement has fully entered into force. BTRs are central documents for providing in-depth information on progress made towards achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. Whilst the inclusion of youth in this process is highly important to further enable youth to advocate for intergenerational equity and greater ambition, the complex, technical process around transparency can be a barrier for meaningful engagement in the field of transparency and their alignment with other processes such as the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) cycle and the Global Stocktake (GST). It is therefore important, that actors working in this field provide adequate capacity-building and opportunities for youth people to exchange and learn.
Hence, we are pleased to announce that PATPA co-organised a webinar with the YOUNGO NDC Working Group on the 30 January, 11:00 am UTC.
This webinar provided an introduction to the topic of Transparency under the Paris Agreement for the youth constituency. The webinar highlighted the strong linkages between the BTRs, NDCs, and the GST for raising ambition and collective progress towards achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. The second part of the session allowed participants to explore potential opportunities for youth participation by engaging in interactive discussions. Thank you to the YOUNGO NDC Working Group for the great collaboration! We look forward to working together with you in the near future.
