Anglophone African Regional Workshop: Improving Reporting in the BTR - Learning Exchange among the Anglophone African countries

From 17–20 March 2026, the Anglophone African Regional Workshop titled “Improving Reporting in the BTR: Learning Exchange among Anglophone African Countries” is taking place in Windhoek, Namibia.

The workshop is hosted by the Republic of Namibia and organised by the Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement (PATPA), with support from the Capacity-Building Initiative for Transparency – Global Support Programme (C

BIT-GSP) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The workshop brings together Anglophone African countries to exchange on experiences from developing their first Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1) and to discuss preparations for BTR2. Participants will reflect on lessons learned and explore ways to address remaining gaps, with the goal of improving reporting and capacity.

The workshop will also cover key topics such as reporting on adaptation, reporting on Article 6, developing projections, improving NDC Tracking. It provides an opportunity for countries in the region to learn from one another’s experiences and challenges through peer-to-peer exchange. 

The workshop will feature sessions on the following topics:

  • NDC tracking 
  • Article 6 reporting 
  • Understanding the Modalities, Procedures and Guidelines (MPGs) 
  • Adaptation reporting
  • Reporting on Loss and Damage 
  • Exchange on the Technical Expert Review (TER) and Facilitative Multilateral Consideration of Progress (FMCP) processes and insights from countries’ experiences.
  • Areas for improvement for BTR2
