Anglophone African Regional Workshop 2026

Anglophone African Regional Workshop: Improving Reporting in the BTR: Learning Exchange among the Anglophone African countries

From 17-20 March 2026 the PATPA Anglophone African Regional Workshop titled "Improving Reporting in the BTR: Learning Exchange among the Anglophone African countries” will take place in Windhoek, Namibia. The workshop is graciously hosted by the Republic of Namibia, organised by the Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement (PATPA) with the support from the Capacity-building Initivate for Transparency - Global Support Programme (CBIT-GSP) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The workshop aims to provide a platform for Anglophone African country Parties to exchange key insights from the preparation of their first Biennial Transparency Reports (BTR1), experiences from Technical Expert Reviews (TER) and the facilitative, multilateral consideration of progress (FMCP). The exchanges will equip and support countries as they prepare for the submission of BTR2. In addition to peer learning, the workshop will include technical elements designed to strengthen national capacities in key areas of reporting. The scope of these elements will be determined based on a survey completed by the invitees.

Focus areas include:

  • NDC Tracking: Completeness of information Indicators, definitions, methodologies, tracking progress, mitigation policies and measures
  • Projections
  • Reporting on Article 6
  • Understanding of Modalities, procedures, and guidelines (MPGs)
  • Adaptation reporting
  • Loss & Damage
  • Exchange on the TER and FMCP processes and insights from countries’ experiences
  • Areas for BTR2 improvement

From around 24 countries from Anglophone Africa, two participants per country have been invited to attend the workshop.

Updates on the workshop as well as the event report will be posted on this page soon.
