El 19 de agosto de 2021, la Red Latinoamericana de Inventarios Nacionales de Gases de Efecto Invernadero (RedINGEI) y el Grupo Regional de América Latina y el Caribe de la Alianza para la Transparencia en el Acuerdo de París (PATPA) celebraron un evento virtual sobre las modalidades, procedimientos y directrices (MPD) para inventarios nacionales de gases de efecto invernadero y sus implicancias para los países de la región. El evento contó con un destacado grupo de expertos miembros de la Red Latinoamericana de Inventarios Nacionales de Gases de Efecto Invernadero (RedINGEI) y otros expertos nacionales de la región de América Latina.
La implementación del Acuerdo de París presenta nuevos e importantes desafíos a los países en desarrollo, como la presentación del primer informe bienal de transparencia y el informe del inventario nacional de conformidad con las modalidades, procedimientos y directrices (MPD). En este contexto, el evento virtual tuvo por objetivo identificar los principales desafíos que los países miembros de la RedINGEI y el Grupo Regional de América Latina y el Caribe de PATPA tendrán que enfrentar para la elaboración y presentación de los informes del inventario nacional de conformidad con las MPD del marco de transparencia reforzado del Acuerdo de París.
El evento abrió con un análisis de las disposiciones de las MPD para inventarios nacionales de GEI y sus implicancias para los países de la región, seguido de recomendaciones prácticas para su implementación tomando en cuenta las circunstancias específicas de los países presentes (Ricardo E&E). Posteriormente, los expertos del equipo de apoyo técnico de la RedINGEI presentaron los resultados de un análisis preliminar del estado de implementación de las disposiciones de las MPD en los países miembros de la Red. Un ejercicio interactivo en plenaria sirvió para abordar el nivel de conocimiento sobre las MPD para inventarios nacionales de GEI y la experiencia regional de los países participantes en su implementación.

On August 19, 2021, the Latin American Network of National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (RedINGEI) and the Regional Group for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement (PATPA) held a virtual event on the modalities, procedures and guidelines (MPG) for national greenhouse gas inventories and their implications for the countries of the region. The event was attended by a group of expert members of the RedINGEI and other national experts from the Latin American region.
The implementation of the Paris Agreement presents new and important challenges to developing countries, such as the submission of the first biennial transparency report and the national inventory report in accordance with the modalities, procedures and guidelines (MPG). In this context, the virtual event aimed to identify the main challenges that the member countries of RedINGEI and the PATPA Latin America and Caribbean Regional Group will have to face for the elaboration and submission of the national inventory reports in accordance with the DPMs of the Paris Agreement's enhanced transparency framework.
The event opened with an analysis of the provisions of the MPGs for national GHG inventories and their implications for countries in the region, followed by practical recommendations for their implementation taking into account the specific circumstances of the countries present (Ricardo E&E). Subsequently, experts from the RedINGEI technical support team presented the results of a preliminary analysis of the status of implementation of the provisions of the MPGs in the member countries of the Network. An interactive plenary exercise served to address the level of knowledge on the MPGs for national GHG inventories and the regional experience of the participating countries in their implementation.
