Enhancing Ambition and Transparency in the Next Round of NDCs – Good Practices from the Transport Sector
The GIZ-Project “Mobilize-Net-Zero: Facilitating the Global Transport Transformation”, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) , has published a valuable resource with six recommendations to support policymakers in aligning the transport sector with the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Agenda:
- Shifting the mobility paradigm towards zero-carbon targets for 2050
- Ensuring the resilience of transport systems
- Empowering cities with national support
- Investing in sustainable rail, inland shipping and multimodal hubs
- Enhancing efficiency in freight and logistics
- Accelerating electrification with renewable energy
The study highlights good practices in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Long-Term Strategies (LTS) of thirteen countries (Andorra, Bangladesh, Barbados, China, Costa Rica, India, Latvia, Malawi, Moldova, Namibia, Oman, Sri Lanka, Vanuatu) in relation to each of the recommendations.
