ODS Banks publication (GIZ Proklima)
Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS), such as (hydro-)chlorofluorocarbons, predominantly used for refrigerators, air conditioning and foam are generating a considerable amount of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions worldwide. Large amounts of old equipment constitute so-called ODS banks are a serious hazard for the environment and the climate.
The ODS Banks project, a project under the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), has published a variety of informational material on ODS bank management. The following materials are available on the Green Cooling Initiative website:
- Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) Handbook
- Thermal destruction of (hydro)chlorofluorocarbons and hydrofluorocarbons
- Banks and emissions of CFC-11 and CFC-12
- Interaction between Art. 6 of the Paris Agreement and the Montreal Protocol/Kigali Amendment
- Global roadmap on ODS bank management
