UNFCCC GIR CASTT 2022

Application Open for UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT Programme 2022

The UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT programme is offered in collaboration by the UNFCCC and the Greenhouse Gas Inventory & Research Center of Korea (GIR) since 2017. The  programme on Greenhouse Gases (GHG) is a professional training on GHG inventories to national experts from developing countries and is supported by the Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement. It will take place from July 25th to August 12th 2022 in Korea.

GHG inventories are a key source of information necessary to understand where each country and the global community at large stand in terms of GHG emssions. Through a tailored and focused approach, the programme aims to significantly boost the technical capacity of developing countries.

Since 2017, 165 trainees from 83 countries have successfully completed the training programme, and they are contributing lessons learned from lectures and hands-on exercises to their home countries to enhance their national capability responding to climate change.

The organizational collaboration will serve as a model for delivering a targeted professional training programme, and for future South-South cooperation that responds to the training needs of developing countries in the MRV area and the enhanced transparency framework (ETF).
