Virtual Event for Cluster Lusophone on Preparing for the Implementation of the ETF

On May 18th, 2021 the Lusophone Cluster for Portuguese-speaking countries held a virtual event on “Preparation for the Implementation of the Enhanced Transparency Framework under the Paris Agreement”.

The event focused on the publication of the Portuguese translation of the "Technical handbook for developing country Parties on preparing for implementation of the enhanced transparency framework under the Paris Agreement". The seminar allowed 40 participants from 11 countries to delve deeper into the topic and provide an opportunity for better preparation for the upcoming negotiations.

Various speakers offered a multifaceted exchange of experiences on the implementation of the transparency framework. First, Virginia Sena (Chair of the CGE) shared CGE’s experiences and planned capacity-building measurements to further support developing countries on transparency. Vitor Gois (UNFCCC) then focused on transparency within the upcoming Subsidiary Bodies and the COP. Practical examples and lessons learned were shared by Artur Jorge de Lima Trindade (São Tomé and Príncipe) and by André Maciel (UNFCCC Focal Point Brazil).

The session has been recorded and can be accessed here.
