In its Nationally Determined Contributions, India has committed to reduce the emission intensity of its GDP by 33 to 35 per cent by 2030 from 2005 level. The waste and forest sectors have been identified as priority areas to achieve such emission reduction. Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) are effective tools for achieving these objectives and additionally, the NAMA will provide important economic, social and environmental sustainable development co-benefits.
