Guía metodológica para la huella de carbon y la heulla de agua en la producción bananera
This guide was developed in a joint effort by the World Banana Forum and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH as a means to promote Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) in the banana sector, specifically through adequate emissions and water resources management. The guide includes:
- Definitions and descriptions of the main concepts of carbon and water footprint measurement,
- a step-by-step guide to measuring greenhouse gases and water consumption along the banana value chain and calculating the respective footprints,
- technical recommendations for impact evaluation as well as carbon and water consumption reduction,
- experiences and case studies from Costa Rica, a leading country in the reduction of GHG emissions in the banana industry, with the objective of replicating the lessons learned throughout the world.
