Making MRV work: PATPA’s contribution at the Asia-Pacific Climate Week in Bangkok 2019
PATPA co-organized an event on transparency on the final day of the Asia-Pacific Climate Week with about 90 participants. This session aimed to provide insights from countries about challenges, experiences and lessons learnt from the process of establishing MRV systems. It also briefed the audience on the main support programmes available in the region.
Viet Nam´s Law on Environmental Protection under revision
Based on a decision of Viet Nam´s National Assembly, the Ministry for the Environment (MONRE) is currently revising the Law on Environmental Protection (LEP). An important part of this process is updating the chapter on climate change to legalise the requirements resulting from the international climate change framework.

As part of an event on transparency, co-organized by PATPA during the Africa Climate Week, about 80 participants learned about Modalities, Procedures and Guidelines (MPGs) for the Enhanced Transparency Framework, and support programmes. During a panel discussion, countries were able to reflect on challenges, experiences and lessons learnt.
Providing impetus for NDC implementation and updating: 5 new case studies added to the Good Practice Database (GPD)
The Good Practice Database (GPD), which showcases a wide range of good practices on climate action and lessons learned from countries around the world, is growing. Five new case studies have been added on carbon tax, on involving the public and private sector in climate change mitigation, on the process of a NAP formulation, on silvo-pastoral practices and on a multi-stakeholder and multi-sectoral consultative approach.
